I am off to Guatemala! I leave Thursday and will get our little girl Friday morning. Our paperwork was submitted to the US Embassy this morning and we should have an appointment date soon, but I decided not to wait (which I know comes as a great shock and surprise to all that know me). Nate will join me as soon as we know when our appointment is.

This last stage has zipped along and we are quite pleased. We got her birth certificate and adoption decree on Friday. Her birth certificate has her birth name and our names as her parents. So it's official, she is stuck with us for good.

Once we get down there we go to the embassy with her and our escort (a woman from the attorney's office), we get interviewed and sworn in as her parents. We return the next business day to pick up her visa and then we head home the next day.

Unfortunately we go through customs in Texas, so her first moment in the country will be in our least favorite state, but we won't leave the airport so she won't get to freaked out about her new homeland.

I'll write more from Guatemala, but now I am off to pack

We are OUT of PGN! Which means Lotus Maria is legally ours. Nate and I are so excited. We got the call the one day neither of us had our cell phones. Saturday afternoon we left to go to the CARS wrap party and figured who on earth would want to get ahold of us. Sunday morning when we slowly made our way to breakfast Nate checked his messages and we got the good news.

Saturday was Lotus Maria's 6 month birthday and I was having such a hard time that she wasn't with us. PGN was the last emotional roller coaster. Our Agency, or any agency, literally gets no information until there is either a problem or you are out. Some families go in for months and never know why. I was getting very anxious that we would be one of those families. And I even threw a pretty great tempter tantrum. But I am sure my mom was looking down upon the situation and helped move things along.

I will probably be traveling down to Guatemala with in the next week and a half and Nate will either come with me or follow a few days later once our Embassy appointment is arranged. Once we have more information I will update the blog!
