I realize I left out some important details on my first post. Being as I have been a parent for all of a few days and I have yet to actually see our child I have got a lot of learning to do. She was born September 11th, 2005, she was 7lbs 2 ounces at birth (which is quite large for a Guatemalan baby). She has a given name, which we plan to incorporate once we name her. At the moment we still can't agree about her last name, so let's hope the poor thing won't go nameless her entire life.
She is currently staying in a foster home that our adoption agency has picked out. They have given us pictures of her foster mom and speak very highly of her. We will get monthly updates on her health and weight and pictures.
I am still in Portland, but will be returning to SF on Sunday where I will have more time to write more and post other photos. Hopefully it won't be too terribly boring.
Thanks for all of your warm thoughts and wishes.

Welcome to Nate and Esther's blog. Some of you might be wondering what on earth do we have to write about, so allow me to share. Nate and I have decided to adopt a child and have been working furiously for the past few months gathering paperwork and organizing a dossier. So we have not been as in touch as we would like, but as of yesterday we are the proud parents of a baby girl. Here's the hard part, we won't get to bring her home for several months. She is a beautiful Guatemalan child and is currently furiously organizing her paperwork and dossier (or at least a lawyer is on her behalf) so that we can go get her in Guatemala and bring her home in a few months. I thought I would start this blog to keep you guys posted on our progress and post updates with new photos.
So I hope this news finds all of you healthy and happy.
